Donatello is a genius; that is the first thing you will learn about him, whether by his own actions or his words. He has escaped to various dimensions and survived in each in order to get supplies, often working with the first side who proves its use to him. Some would say he is amoral, but he himself believes that he is doing what he has to in order to benefit himself the most.
Some would argue that this is, indeed, amoral.
Even towards alternates of his own family, he is cold and distant, but will work to help them survive as well. This often includes being more aggressive when they are in danger, and taking matters into his own hands, even when the situation is drastic. He is unsure why he behaves like this, but believes that he is possibly reacting towards the trauma he himself suffered–and will work to prevent anybody from becoming like him.
Of course, he doesn’t tend to belie this on the surface–indeed, he keeps quite a bit of his younger self intact, up to stammering when he’s flustered and making sure not to step on too many toes.
Making friends, especially those in the long-term, is a more difficult matter than before, considering his preference not to get attached. He will prefer to be blunt about this if someone attempts this, but he will eventually loosen up if he determines them to be sincere. This will take time and dedication, but it will be a very rewarding friendship indeed.
When he does get attached, though, he will tend to return to his friends’ dimensions in order to catch up, or even to simply check on them. He’ll often say it’s just because he wants to make sure they’re okay, but in truth, it’s because he cares for them and wants to make sure they’re all right.
In his home universe, Donatello and the rebuilt Metalhead are only focused on surviving and gathering resources, preparing for a battle with the Shredder and the Kraang. One would be surprised to see how much Don focuses on this end, especially due to the fact that he tracks what he needs across dimensions. His obsession with this goal almost knows no bounds.

At the tender age of fifteen, Donatello and his brothers learned about the Kraang–a large group of aliens intent on taking over Earth and experimenting on its populace. These aliens allied with Master Splinter’s enemies, the Foot Clan, causing a years-long battle between the groups in an attempt to free the city from the villains’ clutches.
With April O'Neil, Casey Jones, Miwa Hamato, and various other allies along the way, the final battle was underway when Don turned eighteen. Everything looked like it was going to be flawless–he himself handled the machinery, while his brothers planned hard in order to figure out the best approach to defeating their enemies in as few blows as possible.
Everything went wrong when one of Donatello’s machines exploded in the middle of the battle, a result of a miscalculation that cost him his family and friends. It was only thanks to him falling into a dumpster that he was hidden, and thus spared.
Years passed, and New York was thrown into chaos, even as he spent the next three years attempting to do something to turn the tables. He rebuilt Metalhead and worked on a device to take him across dimensions, a device he’d had to test in numerous ways before he was satisfied with it.
Now, he spends his time gathering resources to use in his home universe, attempting to find a way to weaken both the Foot and the Kraang.

ιη тнє мι∂∂ℓє σƒ тнє єη∂ v; main | PSC Traveling in various dimensions, Donatello has been working to gather as much resources as possible to prepare for another battle. In order to get the best “deal” possible, this sometimes involves working with both good and evil in other worlds to get what he wants… Sometimes, travelers will arrive in his own dimension, and he has to take them under his wing so they don’t get caught. After all, when two groups hold the city in the palms of their hands (and tentacles), you don’t really want to see what they can do…
вєƒσяє ιт αℓℓ ƒєℓℓ αραят v; before | PSC Before the tragedy that took his family and friends, Donatello was a happy member of the Hamato family, working to cure Karai of her mutation, deal with the complications of a love triangle, and help topple the Shredder once and for all. This verse is primarily based in 2k12, but may be behind on certain episodes due to not keeping up.
ρℓαуιηg ωιтн ƒσяєѕт ѕριяιтѕ v; forest | PSC After his brothers’ deaths, Donatello instead moved to the forest, using the house there as a base for his activities. While he does care for the house, however, he mostly takes this time to attempt getting in touch with both his spirit and those of his brothers’ to prepare for the battle he’d have to face…
¢нαηgєℓιηg v; changeling | PSC Replacing his own double has never been easier. Living with a version of his family that knows nothing of the battle to come, Donatello secretly works to undermine the Foot Clan and the Kraang. Will he be able to prevent the end, or will he fail and lose them all over again?

α ηєω туяαηт яιѕєѕ v; tyrant | PSC A rematch allows Donatello to win over both the Kraang and the Shredder–leaving their resources in his hands. Rather than destroy everything, however, he decides to make the city better; unfortunately, power does have a funny way of getting to someone’s head, and with all of the technology and people available to him, there’s no way to resist the urge to change the whole world…
α ρσσя вυт υѕєƒυℓ ѕυвѕтιтυтє v; substitute | PSC Foot-based concept. The Shredder was furious at Karai’s death, even despite the fact that she’d disowned him numerous times. However, with Donatello in his clutches, he decides that at least he has a replacement. It helps that he’s extremely intelligent… Forced to either join or die, Don decides to go along with Saki’s plan for now, no matter how disturbed he is that he’s going to be a replacement for Miwa. Better him than her, though, considering the knowledge that she’s at least with her true father…
α тяαρρє∂ тιикєяєя v; tinkerer | PSC Mythology-based concept, mortal version. A young apprentice to a tinkerer, Donatello longs for more interesting fronts–and so he’s taught himself how to be more than a mere tinkerer, but an inventor and blacksmith. He’s hidden these pursuits from his master very well, yet he’ll soon learn that the gods can see that which he’s hidden…
α gяєαт αи∂ ∂ινιиє вєιиg v; divine | PSC Mythology-based concept, god version. A son of Apollo and a mortal, Donatello is a god of some of his father’s works–those being knowledge and prophesy. However, what he is mainly worshiped for is the creative mind only a genius could have, which he bestows upon his blessed and chosen. Although he is not nearly as desirable as his other relatives, he prefers to observe and choose a side that he knows will use his gifts to their fullest potential.
αℓωαуѕ ѕωιммιи’ v; merturtle | PSC A creature with a unique mutation, Don lost his brothers in a war against another underwater kingdom, one who has sworn their allegiance to creatures beyond the earth. Now, he has to decide whether putting himself at risk with humans is a better alternative to the aliens…
α gαмє ιи яєνєяѕє v; reverse | PSC A Foot!Turtles vs. Hamato Miwa concept. Donatello has been raised with his brothers by the Shredder, but unfortunately, time has caused his brothers to die along the way. Now, Don aims to finish the battle with Miwa and her father, even if he himself perishes along the way…
¢υяѕє∂ ву тнє мσυитαιи v; cursed | PSC His Spirit Quest gone horribly wrong, Don is cursed to protect a mountain and the forest around it, his body having been changed to accommodate the fact that he will have to guard it forever. With a body of stone and an “deed” to do, he is forced to remain in the forests.
тнє ρυяρℓє αѕѕαѕѕιи v; assassin | PSC Historical-based concept. An assassin who’d lost his three brothers and his father, Donatello sells his services to those who pay him highly. Of course, his morals may appear to be rather low, but meeting him in person reveals a young man who really has a lot to deal with in terms of his family…
иσвσ∂у αѕкѕ fσя α ¢σℓℓєgє ∂єgяєє v; college | PSC The well-known college AU concept. Going to college was an idea that Don hadn’t held on to due to his species, but as supernatural and paranormal beings are being accepted, mutants have fallen under these lists. While there’s still a lot of strange looks towards him for what he is, Don is content just having the chance to go to college like everyone else.

ƒσя ѕ¢ιєη¢є. уσυ мσηѕтєя. v; science | PSC Portal-based concept. The final battle resulted in the deaths of his family and friends, but Donatello was brought to the Shredder. In defiance, he began to attempt fighting his way out, only to be knocked out–and given the horrific fate of having his mind separated from his body. His body used in Foot experiments, the Clan decided to give his mind a bit of its own work to do… Implanting his mind in a robot at a scientific facility, all Don can do now is build and test, thanks to both having nothing else to do and being programmed to do so. Helping the Foot is the last thing on his mind, but he really has no choice. At least they provide him with live test subjects…
ι αм тнє нσмєℓєѕѕ gєм… v; homeless | PSC Steven Universe-based concept. A former Homeworld Gem, Zircon (alias Donatello) has been living amongst the dwellings of humans and learning about them. His technological prowess has allowed him to build a robotic companion, but he searches fervently for other Gems, whether from his own side or otherwise. Sure, he misses Homeworld–but he is especially curious about the forces of Rose Quartz, especially as he studies the humans and learns more about their strange natures… Donatello’s gem is placed upon his forehead, a la Pearl and Peridot. As stated, it is a zircon, and he draws his bo/naginata from it.
α тαℓє σf мαgι¢ v; hogwarts | PSC Obligatory Hogwarts verse. Having been accepted into Hogwarts as a child, he attempts to study magic while also attempting to figure out its “science”–as well as how a mutant turtle ended up with the “magic gene”. As a Ravenclaw scholar, he’s at least in an appropriate house to perform said studies and discuss them…
ωє'яє gσииα ∂ιє уσυиg v; die young | PSC Pre-doomed Homestuck verse. Shares characteristics with his Before verse. When he, his brothers, and his friends begin a game of SBURB, Donatello gets involved in a game that could lead to them being gods of a new universe. As the Rogue of Space, his responsibilities are no less intimidating in-game than out of it, and so delicacy remains his top priority when dealing with the frogs of his planet.
ωє'яє συт σf вєтα v; out of beta | PSC Doomed Homestuck verse. Shares characteristics with his mainverse. Most of his frogs being deceased, there was no way he could find a pure specimen before the meteors hit Skaia; the only being he could save when the universe began to fall apart was himself, and now he’s stuck wandering paradox space in an effort to help other sessions succeed where his could not.
яα∂ιαтισи ιѕ α яєαℓ тяιρ v; a real trip | PSC Fallout verse. Treats Don like he’s from another dimension still, but he has his own stats and etc. After finding that several parts he needed was present in a certain universe, Donatello just about flung himself in there–not knowing the situation at the time. Now, he’s learning to be just like the rest of the survivors of the war, making himself right at home…once he explains for the millionth time that his mutation didn’t actually involve radiation.

мαякє∂ ωιтн α мαтє v; marked Closed with condomglitter After his generator breaks, Don is caught by some scientists who briefly experiment on him before he escapes; however, he soon discovers that he has a mark, one that matches someone he’s been getting to know in this new world. Caught between his self-proclaimed mission and the obligation of a soulmate, Don has to learn to depend on someone other than himself–even if he gets along with Natalie only half the time.
